Location: Jabs Hall, Montana State University

What is Impact & Sustainability Networking Night?

Impact & Sustainability Networking Night connects Jabs students with:

  • Sustainable businesses
  • Certified B‑Corps
  • Environmental services firms
  • Local government and policy organizations
  • Public service and humanitarian organizations
  • Non‑profits focused on community, social, or environmental impact

This is a relaxed, two‑hour evening in Jabs Hall where you can have real conversations with people working at mission‑driven and impact‑focused organizations, and explore how your business skills might fit.

You’ll meet employers interested in students from accounting, finance, management, marketing, and related areas, as well as students who care about sustainability, social impact, and public service.

Who should attend?

This event is a great fit if you:

  • Care about sustainability, social impact, or mission‑driven work
  • Want to see how business skills show up in non‑profits, government, and impact‑oriented companies
  • Are exploring internships or early‑career roles in sustainable business, environmental services, policy, public service, or non‑profit work
  • Are a Jabs major or business minor who wants to use your degree for more than just a traditional corporate path

You do not need to have it all figured out or to know your “dream job” to attend.

How to prepare (3 simple steps)

You don’t need a perfect script. A little prep will make the night feel much easier.

1. Review the employer list (below)

As registrations come in, we’ll list attending organizations. Pick 3–5 organizations you’re especially curious about and click through to their websites:

  • What is their mission?
  • Who do they serve?
  • What kinds of roles might a student or new grad have there?

2. Draft a short intro

Write a 2–3 sentence introduction you can reuse at different tables, for example:

“Hi, I’m [Name]. I’m a [year] in [major/minor] at Jabs. I’m really interested in [sustainability / community impact / public service], and I’m curious how someone with my background might fit into the kind of work you do.”

You can adjust this slightly depending on who you’re talking to: business, government, or non‑profit.

3. Bring 2–3 honest questions

Good questions create good conversations. For example:

  • “What does a successful intern or early‑career hire look like in your organization?”
  • “How did you get into this kind of impact‑focused work?”
  • “If I care about [sustainability / social impact / public service], what should I focus on while I’m still in school?”
  • If you’d like help with any of this—intro, resume, or which employers to target—Bracken coaches and Ambassadors can help you prepare.
