Our First Intern

This summer we hosted Janna Groover, a senior at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. She got to see all of what southwest Montana has to offer, even a June snow. She aided on field calls/site visits, chaperoned 4-H Congress, was a huge help at 4-H Camp.

Innovation Mini Grant for Thermal Drone

In conjunction with Paul Nugent, Extension beef cattle specialist Sam Wyffles, and the Beaverhead County Sheriff's Office, MSU Extension in Beaverhead County received an Innovation Mini Grant, and with matching funds from the Beaverhead County Sherriff's Office, purchased a Parrot ANAFI thermal drone to aid producers in finding lost livestock, keeping an eye on night calving, and mapping; as well as aiding the Sherriff's Office with Search and Rescue efforts.

Beaverhead County Sends Five 4-H'ers to Nationals

In 2025, 4-H member Ellie Weldon traveled to represent Montana at the National 4-H Congress for Excellence in the Poultry Project. Beaverhead County 4-H also sent our Horse Judging team of Tessa Johnson, Leneva Miller, Lily Malesich, and Josie Rouse to the National Western Round Up in Denver to compete in the National 4-H Horse Judging Contest. National competitions allow 4-H'ers to display their knowledge and learn even more travel, communication and networking life skills.
