Interactions Between Insect Stress and Drought Stress

Speaker: Desiree Wickwar is the IPM Program Manager at the University of Idaho. Her background is in ecology entomology, with a MS from Utah State University where she studied insect management, including research on the interplay between drought stress, drought resistance, and arthropod outbreaks in a number of plant-insect systems.
Description: How does drought stress in plants impact insect outbreaks and the severity of damage? What can we do when drought and insects combine forces to try to take down our plants? This 1-hour webinar will delve into these questions and provide practical strategies to reduce insect damage even when water is limited.

Herbicide Residues around the Home and Garden
Date: Thursday, April 16, 12 noon (Mountain Time), 11 am (Pacific Time)
Length: One hour
Speaker: Dr. Cecil Tharp is the Pesticide Education Specialist for Montana State University Extension. He received his PhD in Entomology with emphasis in IPM from MSU in 2014. As the Pesticide Education Specialist, he coordinates the certification and training of Montana private applicators, and assists in supporting homeowners and commercial pesticide applicators in using pesticides effectively and safely.
Description: Plants with twisted and curled leaves often means damage from herbicide residues. This 1-hour webinar will cover some of the most common pesticide culprits, how they are transported to the home and garden, how to avoid contaminated soil amendments, and identifying and fixing an existing issue.
