Welcome to the Teton County 4-H Fair!
- Teton County's 4-H Fair offers local 4-H youth the opportunity to exhibit the skills and abilities they have worked on throughout the year.Members enrolled in livestock projects work hard to produce high quality meat for local supporters.
- 4-H member education begins with annual Livestock Quality Assurance training on market animal selection, health, and nutrition. Additional workshops within the county develop their skills in animal husbandry, livestock handling, and business record keeping.
- At the Fair, livestock projects are judged on market quality, showmanship exhibited in the ring, and knowledge and professional demeanor displayed in a one-on-one interview with a livestock judge.
The 4-H Livestock Auction
- Whole animals may be purchased by individuals or groups.
- Official 4-H Processors:Purchased livestock are eligible for free transportation, courtesy of the Livestock
Committee, to one of two local, custom-exempt processors: Morels Chop Shop (Choteau) or Christiaens Meats (Valier). Both processors contract with Jake’s Sausage Shop (Choteau) for pork curing.
- Each of our designated processors will do 50% of our auction animals.
- At the auction, the winning bidder will holdup one of 3 cards specifying “Morels”, “Christiaens”, or “Opt-out”.After one designated processor’s spots are filled, subsequent animals will go to the other designated processor.Processor assignments will be announced after each winning bid.
- Please do not pre-arrange with Morels or Christiaens prior to the sale. Each processor is already holding spots for our animals.
- Animals destined for our designated processors are covered by our insurance policyfrom purchase through safe arrivalat the processing plant.
- Buyer’s Choice:Buyers arefree to opt out of our designated processors and free transportation. In this case, reservations should be pre-arranged by the buyer and the buyer will
transport the livestock.
- Buyer’s Choice animals are not covered by our insurance policy after 11 a.m. Sunday, June 28.
- Buyer’s choice animals should be picked up no later than 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 28.
