Course Description:

Students will identify and propose a professional project to address a relevant health care issue that results in meaningful or substantive contributions to nursing practice. The topic must be mutually agreed upon by the student and advisor and project committee. Completion of the project proposal provides a means for students to demonstrate mastery of master's level competencies.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completing this course, the student will be able to: (in consulation with chairperson and committee):

  1. Examine a system-level practice issue that is impacting healthcare outcomes.
  2. Appraise evidence to address the practice issue to improve healthcare outcomes.
  3. Develop a system-level process improvement project to address system-level practice issues to improve healthcare outcomes.
  4. Evaluate a system-level process improvement project based on structure, process, and outcome goals.
  5. Author a professional dissemination manuscript/ presentation to inform advanced nursing practice.
