Description of Request

Submitted By: Planning, Design, & Construction

This proposal seeks to allocate the basement, garage, and Quonset areas in the existing Wool Lab building to support the relocation of Dr. Jason Cook's Spring Wheat Lab. This recommendation is driven by the planned renovation and repurposing of the Agronomy Fieldhouse in support of the new housing facility project, which necessitates relocating the Wheat Lab from its current location. The proposed space provides a practical and efficient solution that supports the operational requirements of the wheat breeding program, including sample processing, long-term seed storage, and convenient loading and unloading access for handling large volumes of seed material. With the Wool Lab scheduled to relocate to the new State Combined Labs facility, the existing space presents a valuable opportunity to repurpose university resources while maintaining continuity for this important research and service function. Although minor modifications and upgrades will be required, the space is generally well-suited to accommodate the Wheat Lab's needs.
