Our Mission
The mission of the Montana State University Office of Emergency Management is to enhance campus preparedness for potential emergencies by safeguarding its intellectual property, physical assets, and facilities. We are committed to establishing clear requirements for tasked organizations to develop comprehensive plans and conduct annual training exercises. We strive to ensure the continuity of essential services during crises, ensuring our resilience and ongoing success in times of uncertainty.
Emergency Management
Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program

The Office of Emergency Management operates an Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) program to enhance emergency response and situational awareness. Using drones equipped with advanced imaging and sensor technology, the program provides real-time aerial support of large-scale events, helping to monitor crowd safety, and support decision-making in critical situations. UAS strengthens our ability to respond efficiently and safely during emergencies, ensuring better outcomes for the campus community.
Video Surveillance
Video surveillance systems help enhance campus safety by protecting public safety and institutional property through increased situational awareness. Security cameras placed in key locations assist in monitoring campus activity, support emergency response and investigations, and serve as a deterrent to crime. These systems strengthen the university’s ability to maintain a safe environment while being used in accordance with university policy and with respect for individual privacy.
