The MSU Yellowstone County Horticulture program offers  information and resources to individuals seeking guidance about home insect and pest control; fruit and vegetable garden care; landscaping and lawn maintenance; soil improvement and insect, disease and plant identification.

UPCOMING MSU EXTENSION WORKSHOPS

Invasive Insects in Billings & Garden and Pesticide Winter Preparation ~ Hosted by MSU Extension Yellowstone County.

  • Saturday, October 4, 2025 1pm - 4 pm
  • 4-H Building @ Metrapark (308 6th Ave N, Billings, MT)
  • Open to the public and free of charge
  • MDA approved training. Licensed pesticide applicators may earn 2-3 pesticide credits depending on their licensing category.

 

Gardening in Montana - Presented by MSU Extension Stillwater County. Fall lawn and garden care and growing garlic in Montana.

  • Healthy By Design Gardeners' Market: Thursdays, 4–6pm beginning the second week of June through the first week in October. Fresh, affordable, local-grown food. 
  • Yellowstone Valley Food Hub:Year-round local grower’s cooperative with 50+ vendors. Order online for pick-up (six
    convenient locations) or delivery. Shop in person Fridays from
    10am–3pm, 2115 Lampman Drive Ste. A.
  • Discovering Invertebrates Children's Event: Presented by The Billings Community Seed Library and Xerces Society. Youth will learn about identifying beneficial insects and participate in some fun activities.  Tuesday, October 7, 2025 4pm-5pm @ Billings Public Library. Registration is required by calling 406-657-8258.
