Have you left? We'll Miss You!
- Start your application with your chosen state - see the list of Education Departments
by state.
- If you have some experience in MT (usually two years) you may be able to transfer
your license without MSU Assistance.
- If your transcripts are required, use the MSU search bar to search for 'Transcripts'
and complete the process through the University Clearinghouse vendor.
- If a university recommendation is required, download the form from the state's education
department and complete the personal information at the top.
- Follow this link and attach your prefilled-form to the end to request the recommendation.
- When the recommendation is completed, it will be sent to the education department
or returned to you according to instructions and a confirmation email will be sent.
Some Questions about Licenses
- Do I have to get a MT license in addition to my out of state license?
- No, it is not required, but strongly recommended for ease of transfer and for reinstatement
if you come back to MT
- Can I apply for a license while I am student teaching?
- No, your application cannot be processed until your degree is awarded
- Can my endorsement program be added to my out of state license?
- Check with your state education department, but usually the answer is yes. Follow
the procedure above and be sure to complete your personal information on the Recommendation
