Added Endorsements while Teaching

Internship
Taking classes while employed in your new subject area
- Must be a MT licensed teacher
- Requires District support + verification of teacher contract
- Seeking endorsement in one of the following areas:
- Principal/Superintendent
- Early Childhood Education
- Elementary Education
- School Counselor
- Library Media Certificate
- Family and Consumer Science
- Other subjects available - please contact Dr. Molly Cashion for more information
- This opportunity is renewable for up to 3 years
- Applications for the program must be received in the spring.
- OPI applications (and renewals) for the internship are due June 30th
- This is not an option for anyone who first had a Class 5 and did not complete their program.
Content Knowledge Assessment
- Minimum two years teaching experience
- Montana License
- Take the Praxis Exam for your new subject area
- Apply through OPI
Class 5 License
You may apply for Class V provisional certification/licensure to add the endorsement. However, a Class V is non-renewable and can only be used one time, no exceptions. A Class V allows you to teach in the content area and gives you three years to complete the plan of study.
